"YOUR CITY" LOVE

St. Louis Love Gocco Art Print by Art Shark Designs
I am really liking these city prints.  They are so cute!  There are quite a few cities represented but not nearly all of them.  I wonder if the artist would do a particular city if you requested?  So this one is of St. Louis... obviously!  Kiener Plaza?  Kind of a weird selection of view but hey... I like that it's different than the standard view from across the river.  This would be a great gift for the one you love...

You can find more city prints on Art Shark Design's Etsy site, here.

UNUSUAL MEDIUM

What do you do with your discarded toilet paper rolls?  We recycle them... Anastasia Elias (an artist based in Paris) makes these wonderful little scenes inside of them.  You can find more of her paper cuts here and more about her here!

Below is a sampling of some of my favorites.  From left to right... Far North Reindeer, Fishing, Zoo: Giraffes, Football.

A BEAUTIFUL WEB

There's more to see!  Check out Studio KMO's Etsy shop.

Can you imagine cutting all of this out by hand!?  Isn't it beautiful?  I love the chaos that the lines make... all those streets and boulevards intersecting to make a web of sorts.  It's really interesting to look at a map this way and to see the differences in cities around the globe.

An Etsy shop, Studio KMO, sells these beautiful hand cut pieces of art.  I would love to have one.  It's no surprise to me that an architectural designer is behind this madness.  This kind of work could only be from someone who has learned patients and dedication in design school!

Beautiful work!

ART PRINTS

I'm always looking for the next little piece of art that I'd like to frame and hang in the bare corner of the hallway...

For the past few years I've really relied on a site named Tiny Showcase (in addition to local shops and places we may stumble upon while traveling).  This is a site that focuses on small, affordable artwork. Each week a piece is chosen to be reproduced, in limited quantity, and sold to the public at a great price.  Every Tuesday a new artist is featured and a portion of the sale is donated to a charity of the artists choice... which is pretty neat-o!

This print, Ocean's Don't Freeze by Jen Corase, hangs in our dining room.  I loved the pop of red in the sea of greens.  Dining Room photo taken by Christopher Thiemet (agent broker/owner of Circa Properties)

Well, today I spied a new source.  Some Prints.  Another great way for independent artists to get their names out there and show the world what they have to offer.  I will be keeping an eye on this site and hope to see a lot more artists work featured.

There are so many places online to find great artists.  Do you have any favorites... online or in your own community?
